Subwoofer boxes in '05 crew?
Pictures are welcome!

Not much room for sure...I built a box and placed an 8 inch Earthquake SWS (shallow subwoofer system) inside. Used 3/4" particle board and made a box approx 22" x 4" x 9" and wrapped it in dynamat extreme and filled it with fiberfill, which fit just right underneath the one-way vents that you'll find underneath that black fibery cover in back and powered it with an Alpine MRV-F450 (200 watts to the sub alone). For me, the sound is great. It won't rumble the neighbors from sleep, but it will rumble my innards and make my pantlegs shake at times.
If you got very creative and spent some quality time with a jig saw, you might be able to make a box to fit a couple of 10's back there but I think you'll need to use shallow subwoofers (hard to find) and it will take some time.
First, take that black fibery cover off and survey the landscape. It pops off easily with 3 torx bolts and those 4 tabs up top. I had to cut quite a bit of it away to fit the sub and the amp. I think you'll find more unused space back there than that covers allows you to assume - use it wisely and who knows.
As far as aftermarket boxes specifically for that space, your choices, as of 2 months ago, were basically zero, unless you own a Harley edition. I initially spent much more time searching for the perfect box that I was willing to pay just about anything for, but it just didn't seem to exist.
My system now consists of an Alpine deck, the amp, the sub, and 4 Infinity Kappa 5x7s. No ear bleeding volume from my system but I feel like I have tremendous, distortion-free SQ at levels that leave my ears ringing when I get out. lInstalling 6x8s in an '05 F350 Crew may require a plasma cutter or some more quality time with a metal saw. And don't forget dynamat or something like it. I covered the front doors and the entire back of the truck, including the C pillars and the inside of the C pillar plastic covers and I still get more than enough resonance from the floor and roof. I'll get around to covering those at some point.
Soundtrack wanted $2800 for the same system installed. Using e-Bay and a weekend of elbow grease, I did mine for less than a thousand, complete with twisted 12 guage wire and XM radio, and I got to know the innards of my new truck pretty well. Enjoy!!
Feel free to PM me for more detail.
