Greetings,
I have a 96 F250 XLT 4X4 truck with 204000, miles. Yesterday I started to get a vibration at 60 and it gets worse as I increase speed. When I back off the throttle and coast it goes away. It may be there at slower speeds but I don't notice it. At first it felt like a tire was coming apart but they are new and it stops while coasting so I ruled that out. Could it be Torque Converter flutter?
I suspect it to be from the drive train or rear end as the vibration comes through the seat not the wheel.
I know it's next to imposable to troubleshute a truck online, I'm just looking for ideas as this BB is a goldmine of information.
I may have to find a fair competnent mechanic, anyone from SE Florida (Treasure Coast) on the board with a recomendation.
Even though the rear U-Joint appeared to be solid the needel bearings were replaced with a pile of rust. It took 2 tries to get the corect part as my truck has the 1 ton version u-joint. Not bad 200,000. on a U-Joint.
Thanks for all the help,
RussP
