Neutral Safe switch mount bracket??

I am missing this piece and I dont know what it looks like so I dont know where to start to find it. On the top side of the steering column there is some sort of bracket that 'operates' the NSS. It mounts on a tube that runs inside the column and is actuated by the auto. gear shifter arm. This bracket sticks off the tube and out of the column thru a hole to slide the NSS back and forth as the shifter handle moves. It looks like it is mounted to the tube in the column only by 'tabs' that pinch into 2 holes. I think there is a tab on the left and right side and a center tab to 'locate' the bracket on the tube. Then it bends at 90', perpendicular to the tube/column and is probably slotted where the tab of the NSS fits into and it moves this tab side to side as the shifter is turned. Does anyone have any idea where I could get this 'bracket assembly'? I have the NSS itself and the holes are in the tube in the column but the piece I'm calling a bracket in between these 2 is missing. I tried to fabricate my own but the tube has very little space between it and the steering shaft underneath it so there is no room for a bolt to thread into the tube and the tube also seems to be made of brass or a different metal because when I tried to weld my own bracket onto the tube the weld would not 'take' to the metal of the tube. I would really appreciate any help from anyone. Thanks. Charles

I would eliminate the NSS....... Who needs it. But if you want to keep it remove the column from the truck, and fabricate your own bent piece of thin sheet metal. The shifter tube is not brass, but it is very thin. I would think you could tac or solder the piece to the tube??? How about a small hose clamp to hole it to it?

Yes. It's a 1975 F-250 2x4 auto. No tilt, no criuse.

EDIT:

I do want to keep it if possible. My wife would hate it if it was gone. Tacking a small tab of my own is exactly what I tried w/ no luck. I have the column out so access is no problem. I cant imagine it's brass either but it wont take a weld at all. I thought about a hose clamop but the 'screw head' of the clamp was in the way and wouldn't allow complete range of motion for the shifter.

--Thanks

Since the weld wouldn't take I even tried soldering the same as you would w/ copper plumbing but still no luck. If anyone has any ideas I appreciate any help. I cant put this thing back together until I get it fixed. Even if anyone knows a part number that would be great, I could call around. We have a place for OEM obscure, weird little ford parts called Green Sales, They may be able to help but only if I have a part number.
