as long as they put the stock program back into their truck the programmer shouldn't be vin locked. I just picked up a used superchips but also found a killer deal on a edge evolution programmer so i'm getting rid of the superchips for the newer edge. Good luck with what you buy

Your ecm will have to have the same code that is on the chip. So it will probally have to come off the same year. Talk to the owner and make sure his truck has the same ecm code as your'se, the code can be found on the rubber piece that goes where the chip would. If it was a programmer (he said chip) it would just have to be returned to stock, the programmer will find his code and go from there.
