- I need the specs on a 1bbl Motorcraft carb of of an '81 300-6. I cannot get it set right and it won't run below 1200 rpm. I can't even find a manual to cover it. I need to know how many turns out the idle mixture screw should be, along with the float setting.
So if any of you guys out there know, gimme a holler.
Thanks in advance
The best I can do to help you is scan the instruction from the chiltons manual and send them to you.
If interested, send me a e-mail directly and I'll reply with it.

I don't think there is a predetermined setting for the idle mixture. use the setting you had from the previous carb to get you started, then once it is warmed up and idling (as good as you can get it), (this is the method I used, so someone correct me if i am wrong). Turn the mixture screw in clockwise until the engine begins to run rough, the back it out a quarter to half turn or so. you will need to fix any extraneous vacuum leaks or exectrical problems that may contribute to rough running before you do this. It took me a long time to get it right. It seemed like every time I went for a drive and thought I had it set properly, I had to make some adjustments. Sorry, but I don't know about the float adjustment as the carb I installed was a reman.
not sure if that helps at all, but good luck anyway
-Mil1ion, don't worry about that, but thanks anyway. I just wanted to know if anyone knew of the top of their heads. I'll try resetting the idle again. But I'll just have a buddy take a look at it Tuesday. He's a carb genious.
Thanks for the help
