First service report

Tire rotation
Severe throttle lag. PCM reflashed to latest version. Part #12A650. Original PCM version was EAY4. No new calibration sticker installed, however. Op codes for diagnostics and reflash were 12650D, 12650DX1, 12650D84. Absolutely ZERO improvement on test drive. Acceleration and shift points were no different either. It still has the 1-2 second delay. Maybe it will learn my driving habits. Then again, maybe it's time for that Diablo. Suspecting nothing got updated even though the service order says it was reflashed.
Belt squeal on cold start. Replaced belt tensioner and belt. Part numbers JK6*1022*AA for the v-belt and 1L2Z*6B209*AA for the tensioner. Success! (aka Monster House - - Done!)
Shudder on takeoff, especially in turns. Replaced drive shaft and u-joints and used Teflon grease on the slip yoke. Part # 4L3Z*4602*KB. The factory drive shaft is simply staked into the u-joints and apparently doesn't allow good centering or alignment. Also susceptible to misalignment if it gets jolted. The new setup uses the conventional c-clips. Major improvement - - even on straight highway at 75 mph. Didn't know how bad things were until the test drive. Success!
Rattle in headliner when going over bumps. Service tech. confirmed the noise but only if he banged on the headliner with his hand. Removed headliner to investigate. Could not duplicate in road test. I asked for NVH kit. Nothing done. On the other hand, during my test drive, the headliner behaved itself. We will see the next time I go over the RR tracks.
For the most part, it was a worthwhile service visit. Only had to wait 2 days for parts and service department at least investigated all my issues. Only paid $40. All repairs under warranty. Adams Ford, Laporte, TX.
Retrax comes Thursday. Can't wait.
Now just gotta convice the CFO to get that Diablo . . .
So . . . If the headliner starts making that rattling noise again, my plan is to remove the rear overhead light (or stop lamp if necessary), retract the moonroof glass, and stuff acoustic foam in the space that is left. Just enough push between the roof and the headliner to prevent it from slapping whatever is up there.
