identification/help

This is from a '78 F150 supercab, 4X4. Front differential.I don,t know where else to look. 3 50 D8TA AAE 610048-1.

Dana 44F most likely. 44 will be stamped into the housing, lower right if i remember right.

Ifound some more numbers on left side of the diff tube;7 20 8 C5 610048 1.maybe this will help.

The axle has a 3.50 ratio with an open differential. '78 F150's came with Dana 44 high-pinion front axles (reverse-cut gears) with disc brakes, open knuckles and ball joints. You can look up the 610048-1 Bill of Materials number on the Dana website: www2.dana.com/expert, in the light axle section. You need to download the .pdf file for '79-down trucks axle applications and you can find out where that axle came from if it is not the original one.

The rear should be a Ford 9".

There is the link pasted from my browser url window. Go to section X510-8 'axle applications- model years 1967-78. The .pdf file will download if you have the Acrobat reader. Then choose the Ford front axle section.
