CCV mod non install question.

Okay. I was wondering some people have talked about doing the CCV mod and not having allot of smoke come out after they did the mod. What I want to know is if you have allot of smoke come out do you have more blowby in the engine. Does the amount of smoke correlate to the amount of blowby in any way?

I was thinking this could be a good way to see if a used Power Stroke's engine is tight or not. I dont know if this correct or am I totally lost but someone let me know if Im even headed in the right direction.

The ccv mod just redirects the blow by. On a stock truck it is directed into the turbo intake. With the ccv mod its simply let go to atmosphere, so you see the blow by. It doesn't affect how much at all.

Most likely you'll see some smoke from the CCV. How much is normal is anyone guess. But if you see massive amounts, I would generally stay away from those. If the motor has had some rework done, maybe the ring gaps are all in a row instead of staggered 180* from each one or may be other issues. Generaly you'll probably have to watch under load to get any indication of blow-by (that is over the amout that is normal)
