Tailpipe melting bodyside cladding on 04

Hey everyone,

I just got an 04 XLT 4x4 and I noticed the gray bodyside cladding just above the tailpipe (RR corner) is melted and falling away. The tailpipe isn't actually touching the plastic, but I guess it's close enough that the heat is causing a problem. The truck has 23k miles so it's under warranty, I just figured I'd ask around here and see if anyone else had this issue before I go back to the dealer. I don't want them to fix it now just to find out it comes back in another 20k miles when the truck's no longer under warranty.

Definitely something I've never read about anyone having a problem with. Maybe you just got a "defective" piece of plastic?!?

I'd like to see a picture of that!

The pipe musta been altered somehow or the engine is out of tune somehow creating super hot exhaust gasses. (above normal...)
