the 5.8 dizzy is longer then the 302 so no it wouldnt work. but most wrecking yards should have one in good shape from either bronco/f150/f250.
i had one but sold it a while back.

Tranny Question

Doesn't the 96 302 have a 4R70W behind it? I am running into the same problem on a 95. I can"t seem to find a 351W with this tranny. Will the 351W computer with an E4OD interchange on this setup?

the tranny is an E4od. you might try ford for an ecu , and yes the 351w/e4od ecu will interchange with the 302/e4od ecu. plug&play

Cool

attempt almost the same swap, but I have a 74 block and heads. I bolted up the lower efi intake and it bolted up ok, but I am worried about the ports lining up. I head that because of a diffirence in deck height, they might not align correctly.

Also since I have an electronic tranny, I want to keep the computer, and some people have told me since the engine is allready a 302 HO (out of a mustang, with matching tranny and computer) It should just bolt up since the firing order is the same, but with so much conflicting information, I am not sure what to believe.

also, is there an adapter bracket to keep the serpintine setup?

Chris

Question

I am trying to sort it out also. I found a place that speacilizes in Ford Computer work and they said it will work fine as long as it is a mass ait setup.I do have to get a chip burned to make the motor work like it should.I was also told it didn't matter what engine I ran with this tranny because they could custom make the chip for it.I had to give my cam specs ,computer # and what other changes I would be making.I don't know about your deck height problem but maybe someone at a machine shop can help you.

Won't he need to change the gear on the dizzy because the 88 will be a non roller cam engine, where as the 95+ dissy will be setup for a roller cam.

I can get a really good deal on a 88 351 EFI motor. What issues are involved in the swap?? Most searches on here say that only the 94-97 351 and the 92-96 302 had the same firing order...the 351W firing order. Since this 88 is obviously not OBDII....is this an issues with the computers / wiring harness and ECU?

white, that motor will work but will require a few extra things. You will need to get the proper dizzy from a 94+ 5.8 because your system uses the remote tfi setup. just use your 302 harness on the 5.8 that will cure the fireorder issue. and since yours is mass air just start by running the 302 ecu first while you look for a 5.8/e4od obd-II ecu which will alow that motor to run exactly how its supposed to. Now all of the accessory brackets from your 302 should fit onto the 5.8 as well. Now since that 5.8 is from 88 it will have the wrong flexplate so be sure to buy a flexplate (new) for a 96 5.8/e4od bronco. and your done. you will need a little Y pipe work done so it will bolt up to the manifolds , now also would be a good time to install headers like gibson, jba, bassini are all good ones.

have fun
