Heating and AiroN MY 1992 FORD F250 7.3L I CAN HEAR THE BLOWER RUNNING ION THE HEATER. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP BECAUSE BARELY ANY AIR IS COMING OUT NO MATTER WHAT YOU PUT IT ON BUT THE AIR IS HOT. THE SAME THING WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING AND ITS COLD. THE MECH TOLD ME THAT THE BLOWER WAS RUNNING BUT THERE IS SOMETHING IN THE DASH(I DONT REMEBER WHAT ITS CALLED) THAT GETS CLOGED AND THEY HAVE TO SCRAP IT TO LET THE AIR THREW. I HAVE WORKED ON SOME CARS A LITTLE BUT NEVER TAKEN A DASH OFF. THEY WANT $300 JUST TO TAKE THE DASH OFF AND NOT INCLUDING WHAT ELSE IS WORNG. 1ST ARE THEY RIGHT IS THERE SOMETHING IN THE DASH THAT YOU MIGHT NEED TO CLEAN. 2ND IS THE DASH HARD TO REMOVE OR IS IT BETTER TO GIVE THEM THE MONEY TO DO IT. IVE HAD THIS TRUCK FOR 6 MTH AND JUST FIXING STUFF PROBABLY PAID $3,000 OR MORE.

You are spending $500/mo to fix your truck? That sucks! The dash is not that hard to take off, if you can change a headlight you can do it. There is a mechanish in the truck that controls where the air comes out, i.e floor/vent/defrost and the controls sometimes get jammed which will result in the air going nowhere. If you have some mechanical ability you should be able to get the dash off and look above the hump behind the dash to see the vents. You will see what controls the ducting and probably find that one of the gates is blocked. I still dont like the idea of throwing $3000 at a truck on repairs...you should post more questions before you go to the shop, or after they tell you what is wrong.
I would remove the blower motor from out in the engine bay and see if you see anything in there like leaves or other debris. Vacuum it all out if you see anything.
Then I would pull the heater core out. A couple of screws pulls the glove box and a couple more open up the heater box. There is probably a bunch of leaves against the heater core that is not letting the air through.
All that is only about an hour of work on my 86, yours may be some different. But 300 dollars worth of different.
