my van runs fine for the first 10-15 minutes and then it starts chuging and acting all wierd,ie. it won't idle,it boggs down when you step on the accelerator,and then seems to run ok when you let off(just for awhile and then back to the same), and it will backfire. i bought a code reader and am recieving these codes: 11 (which my book says system ok) and then in the 2nd code group it gives me 18(loss of tachometer input/IDM circut failure/SPOUT circut grounded)
??since it runs fine in 'open loop' can i rule out the tach input from the ignition coil primary circut?? how can i test or should i just change the coil..
??how does one test the IDM??
??how can i test for the grounded SPOUT??
anyone out there with any experience with this code 18 or how i should proceed?
is it time to take it to FORD--shes a rust goddess so i don't know how much money i can realistically spend... i love my van and until recently, it was the best car i ever had(also my first FORD)we went everywhere i hate the idea i won't be able to fix her.
