Harmonic Balancer Good or Bad??

How do you determine if a balancer is worn out? Mine has a rubber seal in the middle that is working its way out of its grove looks like. Not for sure what is going on. Should I trim off the rubber to make it even and paint it and install it or what?

Harmonic Balancer Good or Bad??

I would replace it. This rubber is the only thing holding the outer ring on. And when it starts walking, it can throw your timing marks off.

Thanks for the info. I kindda suspected that but now you have confirmed it. Better now than when I put the new engine in and see it come threw the hood!
