Has anybody had the "famous knock" in the #8 cyl that has lasted for a long time, without any major damage to their engine. Mine is a 02 7.3 still under warrenty and im thinking of taking it in to get checked out. Allready done the "Hutch mod" and regulator return and still knocking. At least my other injectors are happy.

 

i have the knock too but it comes and goes, sometimes wont hear it for a month then i will hear it a lot thoughout the week, it kinda has a mind of its own. ford says it doesnt hurt anything, its just annoying. i have an 02 and i just keep driving it.

 

I also have the knock in my 02. I was just thinking of taking it to the dealer since it is still under warranty.

 

If you do a search you willl find a heck of a lot of oppinions on this. Personally, I had mine replaced under warranty and the truck runs so much smoother. The knock was completely fixed on mine. I highly recommend having the dealer do this and let them check under the valve covers for anything else while they are there. I got several glow plugs, new wires, and #8 injector for free so I am happy. Also, if they do it, make them torque all the injectors down to 120ft lbs, I believe. Dont want those thing s working loose.
