mine only gets 35mpg was hoping for more oh oh sorry wrong forum thought i was in the Geo metro one lol love d all my SUPERDUTYS (3) going diesel tomorrow i hope
2000 5.4 2wd 110,000 miles. Alternator took a dive at 108,000 miles. It does not want to start in cold weather I have to depress the accelerator to get it started and keep it running until it reaches normal operating temperature, then it only idles at 5000 rpm.I was told it was the engine coolant sensor, replaced it,still does same thing. Any ideas?anyBody else have this problem?
For the life of me cant get my damn "door ajar" light to go off!!! about to take it to the dealership for a fixin.
Most likely a door sensor, real common on these... Do a search on them and I believe there is a fix to try, otherwise if I remember right they were about $65 a pop from the dealer.
Alright, I do love my superduty but it has had some issues. I'll try to look past them untill they start costing ME money (everythings still under warrenty) At 20,500 the almighty 4R100 let loose - new trans assembly was installed - my ESOF has been an issue since day 1 - It's been to the dealer 4 times in a year and a half - they replaced the actuator - found rust inside the hubs, replaced both hubs (NO they've never been submerged) - have that clunk/bump right after starting the truck, supposeadly the Blend door or something of that nature - haven't had that fixed but have brought it up to my service manager - also the rear seat belt assembly was rattling and replaced at 22,000 miles, the rear seat belt has been used only maybe a dozen times!!!! also I have the Crew Cab Creek thing when the frame flexes at all, although I haven't rode In any Crew Cab that hasn't had it, ford or brand X. Over all I am very happy with my superduty but the two issues that torque me are the Trans @ 20,500 miles and the constant up keep on the ESOF and if, oh I mean when, it fails after warrenty they'll be replaced with warens so problem solved. The trans still worrys me. If it eats another one the truck will be gone and a differnet super will be in my garage.
I haven't gotten to the worst part though - Every time I drive it every body stares at me and every ricer with rattle can exhaust thinks he should race me. worse yet one of these times I'm bound to get a ticket for being forced to show them that my 7000lb truck will walk alover there 2000lb 4Cyl crap box. Its also forcing me to get a terrible quark in my neck from turning to look at it every time I walking away from it. The 2-3 hour wash thing is kinda sickening, And lastly having to explain the V10 badge to every non mechical person that doesn't have a clue. Damn, I realy hate my truck!!!
only problem here except lower radiator hose clamp let loose at 9000 miles and dumped all my coolant on the ground! dealer didn't give me any complaints though and cost me nothing so real happy so far!!!
p.s. yea the gas mileage thing i am to blame though.
My issues as I remimber them...
1 The wipers suck in cold weather
2 Doors wouldn't latch in cold weather... WD40 fixed that
3 Exhaust system rattled when new, Ford replaced
4 I get a very strange pressure noise with rear side windows down at med to high speeds, haven't figured this one out yet.
Considering some of the rats out there I am not complaining.

I hope my fingers don't get cramped... First I'll start off with the 3 recalls on the thing.
1. rear brake caliper shield (took two trips to the dealer to get it installed because the first time I wasted my time going there they told me I already had it when I didn't)
2. cruise control cable (big recall and there was a backorder on the new cable when I first took it in so they just cut the cable After a month I called asking if they got the new cable yet and they asked me, "oh, you wanted us to order you one?")
3. Fuel tank protection plates and some other thing to do with the fuel tank. (actually got that one right the first time)
Next problems were either fixed at another dealer or I fixed them myself.
4. Squeaky front springs. Dealer somewhat fixed it. The noise came back 2 months later and the springs were really starting to sag so by then I was sick of it and just bought the new designed X springs and installed them myself. It's starting to make noise again but I'm not going to mess with it again.
5. Broken baffle in muffler. At idle the thing sounded like a total junk pile. It was so loud you could hear it with the windows up and the radio on.
6. Broken exhaust manifold studs. Total nightmare! I fixed those and the pos muffler at the same time and put on a banks powerpack.
7. Passenger side power window works sometimes. It's been broken for a few years now and I just haven't felt like wasting time and money on it.
8. POS ESOF The vacuum hub idea has to be one of the stupidest ideas Ford has ever come up with. Their old design for the auto lock hubs was waaaayy better than this junk.
9. Wheel bearings. The great vacuum hub idea sucked in some water and just trashed everything.
10. Broken parking brake cable
11. idle air control valve
12. bad speed/abs sensor
13. Cup tosser After it threw a full cup at me going around a turn and almost made me wreck, I replaced it with the newer design
14. ESOF vacuum solenoid valve When the seals on the wheel bearings went bad and ruined the wheel bearings, axle shaft and etc., it also sucks some water up to the valve and trashed it.
I'm thinking there is one or two other things but I can't remember them right now. It's a 99 and has a little over 82,000 miles on it. I didn't include normal wear items like tires, brakes, and battery. All of those have also been replaced. I was super impressed with the brakes because I got well over 60,000 miles out of them with no problems and that's almost unheard of around here.
I have a 1999 F350 4wheel drive, psd, drw, manual tran, flatbed, bought used with 42,000 miles on it. It is used to feed cattle and has never had hubs unlocked it now has 140k plus miles. We just put brakes and batteries. This truck has had a life. I have a 2000 f350 super cab 4wd auto psd srw, it has 122,00. I have put brakes and batteries and my only bitch is the esof and the vacum hubs, they worked great for awhile but now there are vacum leaks and the heater stays on defrost(this is related to the esof vacum hubs because if you plug the line at the solenoid the heater controls work fine. My truck and the cattle truck have mt religiously performed. My auto tranny serviced eveery year, oil and filter changed every 3500 to 4000 miles we use rotella and wix filters. Fuel filters are changed every 6 months and about every 30,000 miles we add a bottle of the diesel coolant.
My on problem with my 99 F250 PSD is the Service Engine soon light is staying on and my fuel mileage has decreased. Was getting 17.1 for the longest and now it is between 15.6 to 16.1. As long as I drive under 70 mph. Any ideas on this?
I have a 99 f250sd 4x4 PSD. have been pretty happy with it. The main issues I had with it is Pinion Bearing went in rear diff, just replaced both rear leaf springs (all of the leafs broke except for the top main leaf on both sides) was told that is common. I am now on third gas pedal, that right gas pedal, replace to fix surging problem with the engine. Had a fun go around with Ford over that one. besides that just normal replacing of worn out parts (brakes mainly). Very happy with the powerstroke, no problems with that just with things that control it (gas pedal).
05' F350 4x4 psd crew In the first 1400 mi. had a PSA solinoid replaced in tranny, rear main seal failed, and low pressure oil pump regulator cap o-ring leak. Things I would like changed are the tires (Conti's), rubber floor mats (to small), automatic temperature control system recirculated air button needs to be pushed every time I drive it or the truck smells like exhaust ( it resets it self to fresh air every time the ign. is shut off), radio controls in steering wheel seeks through every station (I would like it to just seek through my presets). Other than that its by far the best truck I've ever driven!
