Windage tray
Hi everyone, I have a question regarding windage trays. Does anyone make them for our 300 six shooter? I've seen where these are good for 20hp for V8 street engines and even more for race engines. More hp gets my attention especially when it's peice that is farily cheap. So does anyone have 'em?

Unless you have discovered the secret of running your 300 at 4500 to 9000 rpm, a windage tray is not going to provide you with any benefit.
20HP--maybe on an F1 motor. I remember seeing 2 or 3 HP when these things first showed up in the Boss 302 days.

Windage trays are slowing becoming a thing of the past even on pure race engine. Oil pan technology has come a long way for street cars, and race engine typically run a dry sump when rules allow it. A windage tray in an engine with a stock bottom end and oil pan might be worth 8-10 hp, but at rpm levels a 300 will likely never see. That 20hp that you read about was probably a claim made by a windage tray manufacturer and is unrealistic. You could find 20 hp above about 5000 rpm with a complete oil control effort, but not with just a tray.
