Power steering pump...

Well, here's the deal...i have a '94 F150 and it has a 5.0 in it, i've had it a while and the power steering pump has been making a "wining" sound when you turn the wheel, is this normal or is it about to give up on me??? I've heard both could happen from different people but i really don't know what to think so any ideas??? Thanks for you'r input!!!

Depends, most Fords have a reputation for the whinning steering pump. However, this can also indicate a problem. How does the fluid look? How does the steering feel?

The fluid is a dark brownish color and the steering is very smoothe and easy, i've just been told two different things, i really don't thing anythink is wrong with it because i've heard a l0th of other trucks similar to mine do the same thing,, so i was really just wantin to confirm whether or not something was really wrong with it.

Very common, probably nothing wrong with it since the steering feels fine.
