"FOLLOW UP" 4X4 BROKE
"FOLLOW UP" 4X4 BROKE
I wrote to the forum a couple of weeks ago about my 4-wheel dive system not working. The (4X4) light on the dash would not light up and the 4x4system would not engage. I have a 1999 F250 SD A/T with electronic shifting on the dash.

Anyway…I ended up replacing the small shift motor located on the side of the transfer case. The part was $250.00 at the local Ford Dealer. Everything works fine again.

I tried tapping the motor and cleaning the electrical connection. Neither worked. I do have 142,000 miles on my truck so it was time. The Ford dealer said to activate the 4x4 system bimonthly a year round. He said the motor tends to freeze/seize up otherwise.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
