OK, I did the search, found out some answers that were very helpful.
Now what I have is a 91 Bronco, it's my son's. The ignition will turn, all electrial will come on. But the Bronco will not start. Got a new ignition switch. Easy change out, about 30 seconds. Same problem, no start. Read a previous thread on this subject. Sounds like the "Actuator rod" may be broken or bad.
OK, now what is an Actuator rod?. I have the steering wheel just about off, but need to get a puller. What am I looking for? Sounds as if it is also an easy fix. Is there any thing else that it could be while I got the steering wheel off?
I will start working on it again Monday afternoon. Any help would be great.
I now have the steering wheel off and have found the actuator rod. It was broken on the top half. Now it is broken on the bottom half. It was the only way for me to get it out. So. I bought a "spring wheel lock tool" from the local parts store since they said that is what I need to get the rod out. It doesn't work, won't screw down on the steering wheel shaft. How does this rod go in? I have tried all things but can not get it in. It looks like the top black part must come apart for the silver part, but how? I have had no luck looking for a chiltons manual around this town, so I'm going to keep looking.
Any help from someone who has done this before would be great.
I got a print out from the Ford dealer that helped alot. I had to remove two set screws and all started to go good. Got everything back together, and no start. I kepted adjusting the actuator rod for; start, run, off and acc settings. But I cannot get it to start. Everything went back together just like it came out. The new ignition switch will turn all the way around. I am going to get a new one again on wednesday, and try it. If that don't work, I give up. I don't know what else to do.
Thanks for the help, and if you have anymore ideas, please let me know.
