Ive just installed a holley 4180 w/ an edelbrock performer 400 intake on my 79 bronco. i drove it all day yesterday and it ran great. I started it up this morning and it bogged down when i hit the gas. It also decided to backfire out the exhaust and carb
First, how would i tune the carb?
Second, what would cause it to backfire?
Holley books recommend that you only raise or drop the jet size by one number at a time, and drive the vehicle for a day or two before re-examining the plugs. Get a can of carb/choke cleaner to clean up the plugs each time - 'til you get it right.
Check the power valve after a backfire. They tend to blow out requiring a new one. I think that carb is to old for the anti-blowout protection Holley's would later come with.
