Im driving home today after getting my tires rotated and balanced (had a vibration in the rear) Im cruising about 65 and I had a really bad vibration in the front (think it is more noticable when its in the front) What I am wondering is if tires are out of round will the balancing machine pick that up? Im running 37x12.50x16.5 Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips. PJ says they will not cover the tires or warrenty them after you use them off road. WTF KIND OF BULL IS THAT? WHY BUY OFF ROAD TIRES? Anyways enough babbleing if its not the tires what else can cause a very bad vibration like that?
Tires aren't always perfectly balanced, but they shouldn't be so bad that it's impossible to balance them out at your local shop. If it is really a defective tire and a shop cannot balance the tire at all, then the manufacturer should replace it. The problem in your case is the size of the tire will call into question whether or not your local shop has the ability to balance something that big. My tires are 315/75, measuring almost 35 inches, and 3 different shops near my home have told me that their machines will not balance anything larger than that. Another shop refused me (it was the first one I went to with these tires for balancing, rotating, and an alignment) because their machine would only handle tires 33 inches or smaller. Funny thing is they did a great job on my alignment, but couldn't handle balancing the tires so I had to take it somewhere else for that.
Sounds good to me. Jack Furriers Western Tire in Tucson is the people who balanced the tires. They said that after I took it in for the vibration that they were .50 ounces out of balance so they balence them but they also said that they cannot balance them perfect unless they put outer weights on the wheels. I have welds and I can see them getting messed up or taking out the tire if it came to that. Would you recommend going to a Truck Stop type place? Its to the point where I am worried that the tire is going to blow when Im at 55mph+ Funny thing is, the tire place told me that it is normal to have vibrations with big tires. I told them I didnt have one up front till they put the tire in question up front. Oh well looks like I need to keep on fighting. Thanks for the inputs
One other possibility is that you somehow got water in the tire. I had a slow leaker that I would fill at the same gas station and after a while it began to bounce. Finally went to get the tire fixed and balanced. They fixed the leak with a plug but said they couldn't get it balanced. Finally I pulled the wheel and could hear the water splashing in the tire. Drained it and all was fine. Apparently thre wstation where I had been getting air wasn't draining the compressor.
