When truck is first started in the morning, oil pressure is fine. When is warms up, I notice that the oil pressure has dropped. Low but still okay. If at idle when hot, the needle does not register until the revs are up. Any ideas.
Thanks,
Rick
How many miles are on it, has this been a slow change or all in one day? There could be a problem with the sender unit, or the bearings are all real loose or the oil pump clearances are getting real loose also.
A little more info please.
onestep,
Engine is 5.8 Liter, 4V HO with 90,000 miles on it. Runs and sounds very strong. Uses or burns no oil. Quiet as a kitten. It was like this when I bought the truck, so I don't know if it was gradual or started all at once.
Thanks
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Feb-02 AT 10:09 AM (EST)]Get a mechanical gauge and check the oil pressure at idle after the truck is hot...that will give you a true indication of what is happening...if you're using the factory pressure gauges you could easily be having a problem with the Ford gauge (resistor problem at the gauge or something like that)...
