Battery Tray

Hey guys, I'm looking at this battery tray (item 7953412716 on ebay) as a replacement but can't get the seller to reply with a Ford part #. Can anyone verify that this looks correct for my 85 F150, as I don't have access to my truck at the moment?

Thanks, Alan

It looks to be right, but that black paint makes it look kinda of weird like its bent or something.

I'm now thinking its not correct. Looking at pics on the Bronco Graveyard site, this would be an '87 - '96 tray. Might work, but might not without fabrication.

Thanks.

It looks exactly like my 82, I think it's the right one.

I bought one at the dealer about 4 years ago. It cost $35. It was for my '84. I installed it yesterday on my '83. Glad I checked it out. The old box on the '83 was rotton, and about to let go.

I put a late 80's one in my 83 and it fit fine except for the angled hold that I had to cut a hole into the fender to hold it.

I let the one on ebay go. It went for $44 without shipping. I figure I can get one from a junkyard that will work. It doesn't have to be pretty. LMC has them, but they want $74 if I recall correctly.

7283-F250, if you had to cut a hole in your fender, how is that fitting fine? Or was it just a bolt hole or something?

Hole was for bolt to fit into. You can probably just get a fat short self tap screw to do the same thing.

If I were you I would just go to Ford and buy it they go for around $40. not worth wasting your time on e-bay just to get a used one that might not fit

once the battery sits there for a while, nobody will notice anyway.

That was my original plan. My dealer said he couldn't get that part anymore.

Thanks.

Pretty common in the junkyards-up to 1996 models. Happily the later models are made of much heavier metal. It's a LOT easier to find a later one in good condition. I put one on my 82, much more robust than than the original ever was. And yes, I needed to drill one small bolt hole for a brace. No big deal though.

I am also looking for a battery tray. What year Ford tray worked for you?
