OK, I know I'm not seeing things but it looks like red transmission fluid is dripping out from behind my dash. There will be a puddle on the floorboard to the left of the brake pedal. Where is it coming from? Speedometer cable? How do I fix it? It's an 85 F1504X4 with an aod.
Thanks,
Gary
I can't quite see where it's coming from ,
from where I'm sitting.
Why not pull the instrument cluster and check the back of the speedo.
Also, check the trans end attachment to see if any runs Out of the cable when it is removed.

Pull the vacuum hose off the modulator valve on the tranny...if it has fluid in the line, replace the valve (you'll lose a lot of tranny fluid while you change the valve)...you might be getting some fluid in your vacuum lines and seeping in through your brake booster...
Well when I went looking around yesterday, I found a fitting right above where the speedo cable hooks up to the the tranny. It had about a 1/3 inch piece of hose on it so I figured it must be a vent. Sure enough when I screwed it off air blew out. Blasted dirt daubers had stopped up the vent. So far I haven't had any more leaks. If this isn't a vent I hope someone lets me know. I checked the rear axle vent and it was plugged up too.
