Well, I FINALLY did it. I am the proud owner of an 04 Expy XLT 4x4 5.4L! I bought it used from a local dealer, and I think I got a really good deal. It's about a year old with 22k miles. Black with gray leather interior, AdvanceTrac, Reverse Sensing, 6 CD, DVD. I'm giddy as a schoolgirl! Now instead of trolling the FTE Expy forum here as an "outsider," I can post as an Expy owner!
Thanks, I've driven about 200 miles already since I picked it up Saturday, and I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!! The ride is smooth and quiet, the handling is firm and confident, and the power coming from the 5.4L is great, despite the reviews from car magazines to the contrary. Coming from a 97 F150 4.6L which I had been driving for the past 8 years, it's a difference between night and day. Anyway, it's raining today so I'll wait until tomorrow to take some pics and post them in my gallery.
Just be sure to do a post-purchase check, making certain that all fluid levels are where they should be. Also, I've never met a dealer who could inflate a tire worth a damn. Make certain that all FIVE tires are properly inflated. As you have to drop the spare to check it's pressure, it's a good excuse to inventory the jacking equipment and familiarize yourself with the jacking points, front and rear. Did you get the owner's manual? If you have the door keypad for the keyless entry system, you should have a plastic card in the owner's manual packet with the keycode.

I did check the oil and tranny fluid levels, but I was thinking it might be a good idea to check the transfer case and diff fluid levels too. The truck has 23k miles on it, so I was thinking I might want to just go ahead and change all fluids now, just to be safe. The manual says to change tranny fluid at 30k miles for vehicles with a 4R100, which I believe I have (need to check though). Good idea on checking out the spare and jack equipment, I'll do that when I have some time.
I did get the owners manual and the plastic card with the keyless entry master code. I tried the code at the dealer and it worked fine. I only got one keyfob, and I asked if I could get another one, the dealer said they'd sell it to me at their cost. I may end up getting an aftermarket alarm with remote start anyway, and the Ford keyfobs have lousy range.
