Hello how you guys doing? I have a question for you. Do you think this setup will work with a 86 ford van fuel injection? The motor is a 1975 302 bored 30 over. It's got a 9to1 compression. Has a summit cam with 262 intake duration and 272 eghaust duration adv. The lift on the intake is 448 and 472 on the eghaust. Summit shorty headers a MSD blaster coil, a holley distributor module and an accel distributor cap. I'm going to use the stock y pipe into the front cat and eliminate the second cat and put flowmaster 40 series delta flow and come out with 2 2 1/4 pipes out the back. And also should I use a K&N air filter or stay with the stock. Thanks!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Jan-02 AT 00:08 AM (EST)]Are you going to put the fuel injection on this motor? Also, don't use the 86 flywheel on the 75. Wrong balance. And if the 86 has a serpentine belt system, you will have to use the 86 waterpump and fan on the 75, since it turns backwards compared to the 75 v-belt pump and fan.
The type of fuel injection they used in 86 was speed density. it does not take kindly to drastic changes to the engine. the computer is programmed with the capabilities of the engine. If you swap in a cam that is too different from stock the computer won't know how to manage the fuel. also if you change the flow of the heads and exhaust along with the cam the computer will have even more difficulty managing the fuel. the up side is if you can get your hands on a Mass air type fuel injection it CAN cope with many changes to the engine.
