Overheating?

I have my first diesel 2005 f-250. I tow a toy hauler that fully loaded wieghs around 10k-11k. When I go up grades the temp can climb significantly.

Is that normal?
If so, is there anything I can do to help keep the temp down? Right now it's bone stock.
If I do something "aftermarket", would it void my warranty? I did buy an extended warranty for 85k I think.

Any information you can give me would be appreciated. And I am thick skinned, so if I am doing something stupid, just let me know.

Do yourself a favor, install a good set of temp. guages, EGT and trans. Install the EGT pre-turbo. Those will give you a better idea of how hot your truck is getting.

My 2005 had the saqme problem and Ford has a TSB for this condition. They replaced the entire dash cluster for a faulty temp gauge.

If I remember correctly the TSB # is 05-1-02

TSB=Technical Service Bulletin. Ford puts out service messages like tips and hints to the technical field. Some have posted summaries of the tsb on the web.

Mke sure you take the TSB # with you to the dealer otherwise they will give the deer in the headlight look. I feel that this site knows more about the trucks then they do. I have to tell the dealer what to do most of the time.
