I have recently purchased a 79 F150, the previous owner said it has a new motor he wasnt to sure on what it was however, he claims 351w but wasnt sure, it came stock with the 351m according to the vin#, where might the identification number be and where could i find the chart to decode it? any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
P.S the only numbers i could find are on the intake and i know they arent it but someone said you can ID it with them? (13726548)
"13726548" that looks like the firing order for the 351C/351M/400.
It could be a 351C or 400. 351M and 400 look the same. the only difference is crank and pistons.
351C has a intake less that 11" wide. 351M/400 is a little over 12".
Unless the sticker is on the original engine & is readable,The only way to tell the difference between the 351M & the 400 is to measure the stroke.
The stroke on the 400 is 4"
Now that we know it is 335 engine series engine, for more discussion about it we can move this thread to that forum.
