My son in law has an F350 with a major electrical problem Crazy things the truck does:
- turn ignition to on - push washer button & the truck starts - with truck running, turn lites on and the engine dies or cuts out - cruise works when it wants to - day time running lites not working - He removed 2 daytime running lite fuses because with good fuses and running light on, the starter engages - turn lites on starter will engage while truck is running (sparatically sometimes)
Maybe someone on the forum will have an idea about this thing. I kind of think it's the computer but he thinks it's the wireing in the steering column. Anybody ever come accross something like this? Hoss
It's not the computer. The computer has no connection to activate the starter. My vote is the wiring in the steering column or in a bundle close to the steering column has gotten overheated and melted together or is seriously pinched. All the items mentioned are common to the steering column, not common to the PCM.
I'd go with midlf on this. Take the cover off the column and examine wiring. Make sure someone hasn't attached anything to the housing and used a long screw which shorted wiring. It's not going to be the computer.
