New guy here so take it easy on me. Tried the search but came up with busy.
My 2000 EB radio display quit working.
Radio/tape/cd work fine but no display for what station or time.
Hope it is an easy fix.
TIA
Kenny
It's probably different, but on my 90 Ranger what I thought was a LED display was actually a LCD display backlit by a bulb. My radio (after removing the plastic cosmetic cover) has a hole in each corner. There's a special tool that goes in these holes, but I was able to work each one with a small scribe (or awl) to unlock the latch. I've since gotten the tool. It's basically two u-shaped wires. You can probably make these out of a clothes hangar. Anyway, remove the front panel and this exposes the bulb. It's pretty cheap, but it's a dealer item only as I recall.
Wait for things to calm down and try another search and you will find multiple threads on this. Some are quite long. The server gets busy on occasion. This is a very common problem (the blank display, not the busy server), welcome to the club. Mine does it intermittently and is working correctly at the moment. I can usually smack it a couple of times and it will begin working again. In my case, I know it is a matter of time before I must perform the permanent fix.
You have at least three options:
Option 1 - Fix the damaged part yourself. Try this site. It should be a link to step by step instructions.
Option 2 - You can buy a rebuilt part to replace the bad part. The guy who sells the replacement parts apparently feels threatend by the guy who posted the repair on the link above. I do not have a link to the guy who sells the rebuilt parts but with a little work, you can figure out how to get in touch with him from the link above. Read through the above link and you will be able to figure out what I mean. Based upon the behavior iof the guy that sells the rebuilkd parts, I am not sure I would go that route just on principle. Again read throuhg everything on the above link. On the other hand, I have read where people are quite happy with the service they have received for the seller of the rebuild part. Your call.
