I have a 48 F1 that has a 49 Flathead in,and i have a Fatmans Mustang 11 with power steering that i want to put in.My question to all is ,does anyone know of a source that sells a bracket to mount a power steering pump to the engine?
Thanks,Doug
I'm looking for the same. There was one company on the net I found, don't remember for sure who, but theirs was a bracket and saginaw pump for $300, which was way more than I want to spend. I'm going to use a saginaw pump, and bought a bracket to hold it off ebay (it's for a chevy motor), and am going to try to modify that bracket to mount on to the headbolts or something along those lines. I know people have put p/s on their flatheads but it is hard to find any info on it.
If you want to keep the stock look of the Flathead you can install an electric power steering pump. Several auto mfg's over the years have used them. I saw a few listed over on Ebay a few days ago.
Sorry, it's not my DIVCO, I saw it at a show. All his mounts were just modified stock mounting plates (that came with the pumps/alternator/AC). He was very clever, check out the PCV system and other nice touches. The challenge was also that the DIVCO has less room between the radiator and engine than an F-1 of the period. There was a "build sheet" on the truck that said the steering was from a Chevy Astro Van.
