ray - run a search on oil drain and you will see that it is a common problem. Some use a Fram or Fumoto drain valve that lets you hook up a hose to it. Others have gone simple and fashioned a funnel of sorts to drain the oil into their drain pan.
I built my own custom pan and put the drain where I wanted it, along with considerable extra capacity!!
You could check out other year, model Trucks and cars to see if any have different drain locations. I haven't seen a more acceptable drain at my local wrecking yard yet.
Ray,
I have to concur with my friend Putt, the way around the problem is install another drain plug where you need it like Putt says. That's what I do. This is always a problem when a passenger car engine is installed in a F Series chassis. I have same deal with 460s out of a P-Car.
The only problem is pan has to come off to really do it right, but IMHO it's worth it.

ok like is there another way to get a oil pan that would fit my 352 and have the drain else where
The FE powered 4x4 truck came with a rear sump oil pan. If you are fortunate enough to find one, you will also want to grab the pick up tube to go with it. Check with your favorite machine shop or speed shop, they can also wrangle up a pan for you. Of course those will be the aftermarket pretty and $$ ones.
Or you could go to a marine dealer and get a oil pump that has a small tube that runs down the dipstick into the bottom fo the oil pan and sucks all the oil out.not only does it work but you dont end up with oil all over the place.I also punch a hole in the oil filter suck the oil out with the same pump then put a peice of ducttape over the hole and spin the filter off, can do it without ever going under the truck.
