Painting the distributor cap??
Painting the distributor cap??
Here's an offbeat question: Has anubody painted their distributor cap? Did it cause any problems like sparks arcing over the outside? I am painting the entire engine monochrome and the red cap just sticks out like a sore thumb!
I don't think that painting the distributor cap is a great idea.
A. It won't look very good...IMO
B. It will be difficult to get the paint to stick
C. You can probably buy one in a different color
With my truck, I painted the block black, the heads and intake are aluminum, the accessories are the grainy aluminum look, the dist cap is red, the wires are red...
I went with the dist and wires red because some of my suspension pieces are red too, so it matches...it's just very suttle which I like because I don't have to worry about keeping it super clean, and it still looks nice.

the reason not to paint the cap the plastic is porous thus allowing for some heat dissipation. By painting it you would be sealing it which could lead to heat and/or even moisture problems down the road. If you feel the need to paint it yes the paint will stick if done right, However i would go to Summit or Jegs and look in the dress up stuff for different colors. I have'nt seen much in the way of various colors but theres always a first.
