i was on a famliy vacation sailing in the west indies when i sliced my hand real goodl. REALLY primative health care where we were, so duct tape and 3x3 gauze pads where all i got. i've broken the majority of my toes from kicking stuff on sail boats, broken 4 or 5 fingers. 2 on the same trip, duct taped em together. Broken my left ankle my left shin and my left arm.
1 broken thumb, 1 smashed foot (almost every bone in the top of my foot was broken somehow [a log fell on it]), 1 broken thumb, numerous ankle injuries.
Stitches: the sugical removal of shrapnel or other flying pieces of hot metal, less than 5 per visti, banged head into doorknobs and endtables alot a a kid 20 +in a gew tears. , dropped knife landing in thigh and sticking half in6, wisdom teeth (2 stitches), a month and a half ago lost entire left hand thumbnail.
I just went and got stitches on my finger and the nurse was giving me grief about it because this is about the 5th time in the past year that I have had to go in for stitches and 4 of those times have been on the same hand (one time was just above the eye).
Got me wondering, how often do you guys get cuts bad enough for stitches, and what is the most you have gotten at one time.
The most I have gotten at one time is 78 and that was in my tongue (got hit in the mouth with a baseball.
On the bright side, my tetnus shot is always kept up to date.
What are you doing with that hand that keeps requiring you to get stitches in it every 2.5 months?
I have had 1 staple, no stiches, busted my head open when i wrecked my bike when I was 8. I have broken one knuckle, or at least i think I have, never had it set. I can't bend it all the way down, so it never healed right. oh well. But other than that, that's it, now how many times I've busted my head or another part of my body, I'm surprised that I haven't had more than that.
i'm up to about 14 on my finger. work injury, involved a forklift, 55 gal trash barrels and a 6 foot tall dumpster....needless to say, the barrl is OK....broke my left ring finger in half behind the knuckle, got a plate in there now with 6 lil ol screws. most commen comment is "dude, that looks nasty"....yeah, my finger is crooked, they call me the Crip at work now.... was at work the day after the surgury for the plate and on a 4-wheeler 5 days after that....yeah, my "cast" was pretty nasty when i went back.

You might want to think about that
One time I broke a spark plug off pulling out a motor and didn't notice until my hand was between the plug and the exuast manifold (3 stitches)
2nd and 3rd time I was doing body work (cutting pannels) off my 72 Chevy (within 2 weeks of each other)
4th time I got hit in the head with a 3' long rawhide dog bone
Most recent, I was reatatching the washer fluid nozzle in my 01 Supercrew and I must of got my hand in the right spot because it sliced the nuckle nice and clean to the bone.

I do construction work so I am always cutting myself. Not too many stiches though. Both feet, right leg at the knee, both legs at the top, right hand, and mouth. I think the needle to make you numb hurts worse than the stiches. You would think modern medicine would come up with a better way to close things up.
Quite simple. The kids were playing with the bone (hitting eachother with it) and when I went to take it away, the neighbor kid didn't let go until the last minute and it came up and popped me just above the eye.
chain came off of my chainsaw one time and got me, kinda deep and over an inch long. what did i do ??
SUPER GLUE!
just pour the super glue in really thick so it overlaps the cut, and then every 12-20 hours peel it out and re-glue it again.
it didnt get infected, and it hardly even left a scar.
i guess it was a pretty common method used in Vietnam. ( sorry if someone already mentioned that, i didnt read all the replies )
I currently have a 2" vertical incision in my forehead--7 stitches under and 18 stitches on top. Had a 2" incision in my arm last summer-- 17 stitiches under and 17 stitiches on top. I get skin cancers quite easily and between stitches for the biopsy and the surgery, I am over 150 stitches in the last 3 years. It will take me awhile, but I'll get up to 300 in another couple of years. Oh yeah, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Minnesota, thank you.
