My 95 extended had those "hand holds' above the passenger door. Whomever stole it now has the '95, handholds and all. The '96 I bought didn't come with any. Can they be cannibalized from a '95, and added to a '96? Any tips on installation, if so?
I've never seen an Aerostar with the hand holds that you describe, although I have often wished for them in all three Aerostars that I have owned. I suspect they are aftermarket. Nevertheless, I would like to know where I could get as set for my current van.
Nope, the '95 extended had them as OEM. In 1996, Ford stripped some stuff from their new Aerostars, and apparently the inside handle was one of them. I wish they'd left off some useless equipment instead, such as that puny jack.
Well, I bought my '95 extended from the Ford Dealer, as a "return from lease" vehicle, and it had this handy handle above and inside the right front door. I'm not sure it had one on the drivers side. It was the same plastic covering as the rest of the van, and I still think it was OEM. My '96, another "return from lease" doesn't have it. Sorry about that trip in the rain, guy.
Nope ..Never was a stock item. Sounds like someone did a nice job of installing an aftermarket grab handle though.
I hear the ones from a Sabaru match the colors of the fords and can be installed.
