fatfenders is absolutely right, ALWAYS,ALWAYS break the hot side on any type of switching/cutoffs otherwise you could burn up a $20k truck to save $5.00. This is course my own personal opinion(disclaimer)

I have had two trucks stolen over the years and both had Ignition and Fuel kill switches. They were both pushed/rolled away from my residence. If anyone has a good way to deter them being pushed/rolled away I would be intrested in hearing it. Price you pay for living on a hillside I guess.

A locking mechanism for the emergency brake. Just need to figure out how to do it.

I have heard of a selnoid being used on the brake system so when set, the brakes would stay applied the first time they are used. I just never had the guts to do it, I figured I would probably kill myself with it.

I got the switch in and hooked up the cables. I split the positive leads. It was actually easier than I thought it would be. Works nicely too. I bought the switch at Kragen, it is 500 amps and cost $15.99. Not bad. It appears to be water proof also. I like the idea of not having to lift the carpet and battery lid everytime I want to disconnect the battery.
51 ford- My father made this bracket on my 66 Mustang. Not sure if it will work on your truck or not. The Mustang has a floor shifter (automatic). The one bracket mounts on the floorboard. Then a flat piece of metal with a slot, slips over the bracket and pushes up against the shifter arm. Then you put a lock on the bracket. This way no one can put the car out of park to roll the vehicle away, unless they go under the truck and release the transmission manually. I can take pictures of the bracket if you want. Let me know. You can create something that will work to eliminate anyone taking the truck out of gear also. There's always the "club".
