Poor gas mileage

I have a 98 reg cab flareside 4.6 auto 4x4 and im only getting 10mpg at best in the city. Is this normal or could something be wrong. It runs perfect no check engine light lots of power. New plugs, wires, air filter,I cleaned the MAF. checked o2 sensors active and switching good. I should of mentioned Im from canada and its still pretty cold would cold weather affect the mileage this much.

Are you letting the truck idle for long times so it can warm up? Idle time = 0 mpg. Also the "winter" gas mix gives a little less MPG.

It could be the fuel filter if you have a lot of miles on it. I have a Toyota pickup and it started getting bad gas mileage so I changed the air filter, spark plugs and gas filter and one or all of them made the difference.

Does your temperature gauge get up to normal?
If the engine isn't warming up properly it will affect the gas mileage.

Thanks for the replys I don't let it idle long 5 min max. The temperature is good halfway up the guage. I was thinking of the fuel filter but couldn't connect a fuel filter to poor fuel economy but ill try it. The fuel filter looks like it has been changed but it has 230000km ill try changing it tomorrow.
