Anyone with a flareside-how do you take off the stock mudflaps?

Anyone with a 97-03 flareside or truck that has stock mudflaps.. How do you get those sons of b*tches off??? They are really ugly and I would rather throw mud then had it get caught up in a p.o.s. flap and dry up and stay there forever. As you can tell I'm really annoyed with 'em so I'd really be happy if someone knows how to do it. Thanks alot guys!!

Aren't they held on by a couple of bolts or screws. You may have to take the tire off to get to them, but I can't imagine they are hard to get at. If you can, take a pic so we can see how they are mounted.

I took mine off a few yrs ago. Don't remember exactly, but I do remember having to take part of the wheel well liner loose. On the back, make sure you leave the metal reinforcement rods.

THere are like two screws and maybe I think a rivet. They are kinda ugly. I took mine off when I lowered my truck. I have since then raised it back up and put them back on.

Hmm alright,...

Do you have to buy new wheel well trim because it looks like my trim ends right behind the mudflap..??

My 97 is a flare side 4x4 and the back driver side mud flap actually came off on its own. Mine back ones are held on with those plastic thumb tacks. I have not examined the front one to see how they are connected.
