Last nite I had to go return a couple of movies, so after that I was driving around letting my truck warm up. I turned down 34th street and saw 2 cop cars sitting on a side street, and one looked like it was on the walking path. As I drove by I thought "Is that one stuck on the walking path?" So I turned around and sure enough it was. So me, being the nice guy that I am, stopped and offered a pull. He thought he could get out without it, so I helped the other cop push on the front. After about 15 mins, and 15,000 miles off the life of the car, we got it out. So now I figure the cops owe me a get out of jail free card, right??
he didn't even seem overly grateful, not as much as the other one who was helping push at least. Problem is, I don't think I could remember the one who was stuck, but the other one I could.
If it was my town, and a city cop..I woulda drove right past. they are all asses. The police chief hates me and i aint donna damn thing wrong.
As for the highway patrol, and sherriffs.... I'da got out the tow strap. they're all cool, except for the on ethat gave me a speeding ticket last nite, for doin' 67 in a 60.
Not trying to flame anyone but, why is that when you do something nice and help someone out you expect something in return. Just by helping each other out and expecting nothing in return could probably change a lot of problems we have nowadays.

That's a big 10-4!
Whatever happened to helping out for the sake of doing something to benefit another person? I love giving people a hand on the road. Anytime someone has offered me $ for helping to change a tire, etc. I tell them to donate it to charity. I didn't help for the money, I helped because they needed help!

I agree. we need more people to help other just cause they need help.
Ive pulled out a few cops that were stuck in the mud and ive also helped during a high speed chase and created a road block with a few other trucksers on the bridge so he could not get around. I never asked for nothing but i did gain some friends that now wheel with me.

agreed i really haven't had an opertunity to help someone out that way. except for jumping some people off etc. and carrying a ladys 27 inch television from her apartment downstairs to her car for her. didn't even know either person. they asked for help i did what i could. i was offered money both times. i refused, i don't see why money is needed just to help someone in need. id just rather have someone help me when im in a similar situation. a good deed is never unrewarding. the very least you end up with the satisfaction of having helped someone. i feel good knowing i was able to help out.
In the financial situation I am in, I can't hardly afford to turn the money down, but it isn't the reason I help out, and I don't always get money for it, but I would do it all the same if I knew they would only be personally grateful. If more would just help without plans for return, other than getting help when they need it, the world would go much better. I usually tell them when they ask me what I want for helping, I just tell them do it for someone else.
I never helped out expecting something in return, except some gratitude, of which I got very little from the officer who was in the jam. The other officer was thankful, though. It's just with the rap law officials have, you'd think that they would be more thankful when someone (read me) goes out of their way to help out.
