I almost bought a 350 ambulance and it had dual batteries, isolator, and a single, bigger, alternator.
Here's a couple links that may help . . .
Ford Alternators:

(They also have alternator upgrade kits elsewhere on the site and offer quick email response to queries.)
Camping world's isolator selection, some for multiple house (2)batteries:

JC Whitney's isolators:

Hope these links work for you. Let me know what you end up with and how it works; I'm going to be doing the same thing, 1500w inverter powered with probably two batteries and a single alternator.

Just ran across this add'l info re: adding another alternator and thought you might be interested:

He also has literally tons of other information on setting up house batteries and small gensets, inverters, etc.
Go here: [link:yarchive.net/car/|Yarchive.net/car/]
and scroll down to RV on the right. John is the author of a slew of interesting and very informative posts, and the page itself has tons of other good vehicle related info on everything from glass polishing to engine stuff.
Good luck, and let the board know what you end up doing!

having built batteries for a few years i can tell you that you really want two charging systems. #1 you have two different types of cell construction (starting & deep cycle). #2 if your starting battery is charged and your motor home batteries are discharged you are going to over time cook your starting battery.P/S the gravity of the batteries are also different 1.265 for starting & 1.300 for deep cycle.Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
