water free battery?

Hello. I have a 2000 with the 4.6 engine. My green eye on my battery isn't green anymore. The battery cranks fine but the eye is showing a red ball. Would anyone know if a stock battery could be opened and add distilled water in it? My has a plastic cover on it, so I would like to know if I can add water or not before I go to the trouble of removing this.

Pretty sure you can't. I know mine was a sealed battery when I bought my truck.

Keep an eye on your guages when you start your truck. If they swing back and forth a few times and then level out, your battery is getting ready to give out.

Assuming that an overcharging situation isn't boiling away the electrolyte, I would consider replacing the battery if it's original. After nearly five years, it doesn't owe you a thing. No-starts suck a bit.
