I just bought an 84 with a 300. I would like to go to a 4bbl carb. can anyone make any suggestions for what parts and where to get them. Also do I need to switch to headers or can I stay with stock. If I stay stock what do I do with the egr valve. I just want to get this one going with a little better fuel economy and power until I decide on a new engine and exhaust. Any help would be appreciated especially if there is anything I didn't ask or consider. I am a chevy convert so this is all new to me. All my others were 350's and no emissions.
This carb is designed and calibrated to work on 6-cylinder and small displacement V-8 engines in light vehicles.
The above manifold can be bought from www.cliffordperformance.com
They say you must run headers with this manifold. I know some of the sixes use one bolt with a clamp that holds both the exhaust and the intake manifolds. This may be the reason if you convert one, you have to do the other.
The carb is from www.jegs.com The part no. is 510-O-8007
