Daytime running lights
Daytime running lights
I just recieved the Ford daytime running lights accessory but the instruction call for a bit of electrical experience and trial and error. I was wondering if anyone has done this and if you can give more concise instructions for installation. Otherwise, I will have to take it to my local car stereo shop.
TIA,

Mitch, you did not say what year yours is. I added on of those splice in kits for my 2001 F-150 and it was a job! Ford wanted to sell me the same kit for my F-250, but I found a better way! The kit for the F-250 CAN be a lot easier if you have the resistor wiring harness behind your driver's side headlight. If there is a plug there, then you just need two plug in parts for DRL! This worked for my 2003, I know of others with an '04 that worked fine also. I do not know about any 2005s though.
Relay 2C3Z13B218AA $35.28
Resistor 1C3Z14A601AA $23.57
The resistor plugs into the two-wire harness right behind the driver's headlight under the hood. The relay replaces the single-wire loop plugged into a harness that runs to the existing relay block. Look to the right of the power steering reservoir, just in from the fender. There is an existing relay box there with an empty location right next to it. The relay is about 2x4 inches and about 3 inches thick. Check out my gallery pictures.
