Hi there i own a 94.5 psd and i find it to be very sluggish on the bottom end it almost seems to be flooding up until the rpm hits about 2000rpm and then it starts to pull a little bit better.I have already changed the fuel filter and i have run diesel injection cleaner through both tanks and still do not see any difference could it be turbo problems,or fuel pressure trouble,or maybe injectors i would like to know what i should do next please reply thanks.
Well 2000rpms is where the turbo really starts to spool. So thats whey you feel the difference at that point. Have you cleaned the FPR screen. You can check the fuel pressure at the FPR at the schrader valve. Should be around 50 psi. Some simple use a tire gauge.
thanks for your reply .Call me stupid if you like but what is the fpr screen.
Well i won't call u stupit cause thats a legit question!! if you pull the fuel filter out, there is a little hole on the drivers side inside the bowl. clean it out carefully w/ Q-tips untill they come out cleen, then re-assemble and BINGO!! good luck...
Thanks for your reply i took the fuel pressure housing off the filter bowl and found the screen it had a lot of dirt on it i was wondering if it seperates from the fuel pressure housing and is there something else to clean in there or in the bowl.Ialso checked the fuel pressure and it was only 30psi so i put a BB in under the spring and tried that the fuel pressure come up to 60 psi so i tried a small screw up inside the screen and fuel pressure is now at 75-80psi.So i took the truck for a drive and i did not find much change in response or power is there something else i can do,please reply thanks.
If I remember I think 75-80 psi is way too high for stock injectors. I heard somewhere that on those you want to stay around 50-65 psi. I may be wrong, but I'm sure someone will chime in with a yay or nay.
