I would like to change "Anti Freeze" from the green to the Gold. Primarily so I do not have to worry about cavitation. Can it be done safely? I would not attempt this myself, howveer I have a shop which I have a lot of faith in. If it can be done they can do it. I make my decisions based on your suggestions, as I believe I can trust you more than someone trying to sell me something. The Ford garage tried to discourage me from doing it, but I am sure that was a PYA answer. My question is should I do this, or I am needlessly worrying about the green "Anti Freeze"? At the time that I do this I want to add a transmission cooler, and synthetic fluid. to the tranny.

Isn't the gold stuff just long life stuff. Can't see why it would do anything to the motor. All it does is help cool the engine and keep water from freezing.(as far as i know!) Also make sure you add an addative to the rad. It helps nuetrelize acid which can eat away at yuor engine from the inside. Kinda like Powertroke Peptobizmal!!

Ford's Premium Gold is some good stuff, and life will be easier for you when you switch, as you don't have to worry about changing it for a long time, and you don't have to add SCA's to it. The only recommendations I would have would be to change your radiator hose to the non-interference type (So you can take off the serpentine belt without having to take the radiator hose off). Somebody who's already done it can probably give you a part #. Second would be to install one of those back-flushing kits (I know Wally-world sells them for about $5). They work really well and help to flush out all that old coolant.
