I have a 2000 Ranger 2WD and I am going to replace the front brake pads to try and stop the squealing they do, especially at low speeds. The original and replacement pads did the same thing. I think they are both semi-metallic.
I want to get a good set of ceramic pads to fix this. Is there a good brand that anyone has used and could recommend for this problem? Thanks
My stock pads on my 2000 never made a single noise, and I liked them so much I replaced them with OEM pads. If you drive in rather dusty conditions, sometimes the dust can cause problems with any type of brake pad. Sometimes a shot of brake cleaner is all you need. Don't forget about the Anti-squeal blue goo, too. If your pads don't come with any, get it.
a good quality semi-metallic with attached shims should be as quiet as ceramic, but ceramic are a little cleaner as far as dust is concerned. We sell Akebono brand ceramics, and have few complaints from our dealers and shops. NAPA's are excellent quality, as well.
