Yes, I don't think that your truck falls under the recent recall, but I wouldn't take any chances. On the F150's there has been a recall due to FIRE!
If there is a switch at the front of the master cylinder, disconnect the connector at that switch and look inside the connector on the switch. If it is wet with brake fluid DO NOT RECONNECT THE CONNECTOR! This circuit is hot at all times and can cause the truck to catch fire while it is setting in your garage.
As I said, this recall is specific to the F150's, but there are many who believe that there are MANY more vehicles that could be subject to this problem. The first thing that happens before fire is a failed cruise control. Don't take this lightly.
Thanks for the info I'll be sure to check that out.I did call ford and they told me it was only on the f150's for that year.Is there a fuse for that circuit?or something I can check?
There have been a rash of these fires in the Houston area recently, Not all F-150' and some F-150's older than those being recalled. The switch/set-up that is being recalled looks exactly like the one on my 96 Explorer, Some of the fires around here have been Explorer's as well.
Check any related fuses obviously. Aside from that, a switch on the brake system is probably the culprit, the actual cruice control circuit very rarely fails.
