I have a 99psd 4x4...I am hearing a squeak from my drivers side front wheel. I think it is the brake dragging. When I apply the brakes, the squeak stops. I also noticed that the fitting where the brake lines come together on the frame rail seems to be leaking a little bit. Will a minor leak in the brake line cause the breaks to drag???????
I doubt it is dragging, when the brakes wear down to a certain point the wear sensor will touch the rotor and cause a sqeak, my guess, you need front brake pads, or perhaps they need cleaned.
I know break pads squeak when they get worn down, however....This is squeaking when the brakes are not applied. The noise goes away when you apply the brakes?????
That's the wear sensor. Under no pressure or light pressure it drags on the rotor to let you know it's time to change. It doesn't normally make noise under high or normal braking pressure.
Thanks for all the reply's..... I will look at this tomorrow. Will I need to purchase the brake line at Ford, Or will a local auto parts store handle this??????
not sure which line it is your talking about? Hard line probably have to go to store and get a piece and bend it yourself but if its a rubber line ford might have it.
