starter cranks quicker than it used to, getting fuel and got spark, feels like motor isn't turning over what could it be???
1981 351C just cleaned starter and fitted starter relay, ran fine after this though...
I just went thru the same thing, and after spending around $300 on various ignition components it still wouldnt start. I checked compression and had less than 50lbs, so i checked the slack in the timing chain using the timing marks on the harmonic balancer and a ratchet on the pulley turning the engine both directions while watching for how many degrees went passed before the rotor moved. It turned out to be about twenty degrees worth of play in it, and after i got the timing cover off i discovered that it had jumped several teeth. The gears were nothing but nubs. Its relatively cheap for all the parts, but it can be a tedious job if you dont have experiance.
I agree, the fact that it is turning over faster indicates that there is less load on the starter which usually means that your timing chain or gears are bad. The easiest way to have observed this in my case was to watch the rotor in the distributor as I shorted across the starter solenoid.
