will it work?

can any one help me?i have a 1986 f150 4x2 with a 300 in it.i want to put a 1980 thunderbird 302 with a aod tra in it.will this work?I know i have to change the mounts but im not sure if the tra will work,Any ideas or help would be great. ps.the tra in it is also a at tra

Sure ,almost anything is possible.Be prepared for a lot of work and surprises.The AOD doesn't need a computor.We don't know if your truck has computor or not.Depending what you are using it for,you may want to stick with 6 cyl.[more torque].

I take it there is a problem with the 300 or the tranny? If not, I'd gladly on why I like the 300 more that the 302. (I have both engines in 1/2 ton trucks.)

If both engines are carb and no computers, it will be easier. These engines have the same mounting pattern to the trans, so just an engine ( or just a tranny ) swap is possible too.

If you post a little more on what you hope to get from the swap, I think you will get a better answer.

302 is not a direct bolt in to replace the 300. You have to get the motor mount pedistals from a 302 truck. The ones that came with the 300 won't work.
